EVANSTON, Ill. - Wildcat Wrestling (2-6, 0-5 B1G) continues Big Ten action this weekend as it hosts Michigan State (4-5, 0-4 B1G) inside Welsh-Ryan Arena. First whistle between the 'Cats and the Spartans is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT on Friday, February 7.

LAST TIME OUT
The 'Cats last wrestled last Saturday, when they fell to No. 23 Indiana in Bloomington. Northwestern had four wrestlers put up victories against the Hoosiers, headlined by No. 18 Maxx Mayfield's ranked upset win at 165 lbs. No. 25 Sam Cartella ground out a 9-2 decision over Joey Buttler, and No. 9 Trevor Chumbley bounced back after a close defeat last week with an 11-2 major decision over Ryan Garvick. Also in the win column was No. 13 Evan Bates, who earned a 6-2 decision over No. 21 Gabe Sollars at 197 lbs.

SCOUTING MICHIGAN STATE
Michigan State is still in search of its first Big Ten win this season after dropping each of its first four conference matchups in January. The Spartans got back in the win column last Sunday with a non-conference victory over Clarion, 30-8. Eight of ten Michigan State wrestlers picked up individual wins in the contest, including No. 25 Remy Cotton at 197 lbs - the Spartans' only ranked wrestler in this week's InterMat poll.

Friday's meeting will be Northwestern and Michigan State's first dual since February of 2022, when they met in East Lansing. The 'Cats came out victorious, 24-16. Despite the victory, the 'Cats still trail the Spartans 23-28 in the all-time series.
