WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W.Va. — Northwestern men's basketball continues its road swing by traveling to The Greenbrier Tip-Off for its MTE this season and will face a pair of high-major opponents, facing Virginia on Friday, Nov. 21, at 4 p.m. CT before taking on South Carolina on Sunday, Nov. 23 at 4 p.m. CT. Both games will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network with Jack Benjamin (play-by-play) and Anne O'Neil (analyst) on the call and can be heard on the Varsity Network and Sirius XM Channel 386 with Andy Masur (play-by-play) and Billy McKinney (analyst).

The Greenbrier Tip-Off takes place annually inside The Greenbrier Resort in White Sulphur Springs, W.Va. The tournament splits eight teams into two groups of four. In the Mountain Division this year alongside NU is Butler, South Carolina, and Virginia. The reigning Mountain Division champion is Big Ten member Wisconsin. By traveling to West Virginia, Northwestern will be playing its first games in the Mountain State in over 50 years, last doing so in the 1973-74 season.

Last time out, senior forward Nick Martinelli drained two free throws in the final three seconds to give the Wildcats (4-0) an 81-79 victory at crosstown rival DePaul. Northwestern shot 58.0% (29-of-50) from the floor, its second consecutive game shooting that percentage or better. The Wildcats forced 13 turnovers, its third consecutive game forcing at least 12 turnovers.

Northwestern had two players score 20+ points on at least 70% shooting for the first time since Feb. 5, 2012. Martinelli took home the Fisher-McGrath Game MVP for the second time in his career after posting 24 points and five rebounds on 8-of-11 shooting. Junior forward Arrinten Page made 10-of-11 shots en route to 22 points and five rebounds, becoming the first Wildcat to score 20+ points on at least 90% shooting since 2021. Junior guard Jayden Reid logged 17 points and four assists, while first-year forward Tre Singleton registered 10 points for the second consecutive game on 4-of-5 shooting.

Sullivan-Ubben Head Men's Basketball Coach Chris Collins is in his 13th season guiding the Wildcats. He has 198 career wins in Evanston and is two victories shy of joining Naismith Hall of Famer Dutch Lonborg (1927-50) as the only head coaches in program history to reach 200 victories.

Martinelli received significant preseason attention ahead of his final year in Evanston. The 6-foot-7 forward was named to the Wooden Award Watch List, Naismith Player of the Year Watch List, the Karl Malone Power Forward of the Year Award Watch List, and was a 2025-26 Preseason All-Big Ten selection. Last season, Martinelli became the fourth Wildcat to lead the Big Ten in scoring, averaging 20.5 points per game in 2024-25. His average marked the highest by a Northwestern player since Evan Eschmeyer (21.7, 1997-98). Martinelli's 676 total points broke the school's single-season scoring record, previously held by John Shurna (661, 2011-12).

The Glenview, Ill., product has scored 15+ points in 22 straight games dating back to last season, the longest active streak by a high-major player in the country. Martinelli has scored in double figures in 30 straight games, the longest streak by a Northwestern player since Evan Eschmeyer (1997-99, 65).

So far this season, Martinelli is averaging 20.5 points (3rd in Big Ten) and 6.5 rebounds (18th) per game while converting 62.2% of his shot attempts (8th). He is one of three players nationwide to average these figures. Martinelli has posted 17+ points in each of his first four games of the season, becoming the first Wildcat to accomplish this feat since John Shurna did so in the 2010-11 season.

Transfer acquisitions Page and Reid have made an instant impact for Northwestern. Page, who comes to Northwestern after stops at USC and Cincinnati, has averaged 16.0 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game on 66.7% shooting (4th in Big Ten) in just 24.8 minutes per game. His 16.0 points per game through four games mark the most by a Wildcat in his first games at Northwestern since Michael "Juice" Thompson averaged 17.0 in the 2007-08 season.

Coming from USF, Reid has posted averages of 12.0 points and 5.8 assists per game with just 1.3 turnovers per game. Reid is one of four players in the nation to average these numbers or better this season. Reid's 23 assists through four games are the most by a Wildcat through the first four games of a season since Boo Buie had 27 to open the 2021-22 season.

Through four games this season, Northwestern has held opponents to 60.3 points per game, which leads the Big Ten and ranks 14th nationally. The Wildcats opponents have shot a combined 36.3% this season, which ranks third in the conference and 24th nationally. Northwestern is forcing 13.8 turnovers per game while turning the ball over just 8.8 times per game, the conference's second-best mark and the nation's 12th.

Northwestern is set to play the Cavaliers (4-0) for the fourth time in program history. The Wildcats have dropped all three previous meetings, which came in 2004, 2005, and 2007. All three matchups came in the now-defunct Big Ten-ACC Challenge. Northwestern last faced an ACC team when it defeated Georgia Tech in 2024, 71-60, on a neutral floor in Milwaukee, Wis. Sunday will be the first meeting between the 'Cats and Gamecocks.

The Wildcats play their second and final game of the Greenbrier Tip-Off against South Carolina on CBS Sports Network and the Varsity Network on Sunday, Nov. 23 at 4 p.m. CT.
