EVANSTON, Ill. — Northwestern closed its three-game homestand with a 110-63 win over Cleveland State on Monday night in Welsh-Ryan Arena.
The Wildcats (3-0, 0-0 Big Ten) secured their largest margin of victory against a Division I opponent since Dec. 11, 2017 against Chicago State (96-31).
Five NU players posted at least 15 points, the most in a single game since at least 2005-06 as the hosts scored 57 second-half points in a comprehensive result against the Vikings (1-2, 0-0 Horizon League).
"A recurring theme in our locker room is that we need everybody to just stay ready when called upon," Sullivan-Ubben Head Men's Basketball Coach Chris Collins said. "I would love to play them all for 30 minutes, and it's just impossible to do that. On a given night, with how the game's going, we got to be okay with what the opportunities are that night."
Senior forward Nick Martinelli recorded a game-high 21 points on 9-of-14 shooting and seven rebounds. Junior forward Arrinten Page scored 17 points and added nine rebounds and three assists. He made 7-of-8 shots from the field.
Page said the team's collective success helped fuel his standout performance. Northwestern dished out 26 assists to seven turnovers on Monday night.
"It's always good to see your teammates eating," Page said. "I feel like it's just contagious. Everybody on the bench was just sharing energy with each other."
Senior forward Justin Mullins and sophomore guard Max Green each tallied 16 points, while first-year forward Tre Singleton chipped in a career-high 15 points.

Green, who drained 4-of-6 3-pointers, became the first Wildcat since at least 2004-05 to score at least 16 points while logging 11 or fewer minutes. He is the only player in the country to do so this season.
"He's wired a lot like I am," Collins said of Green. "It's probably the first time he's ever had to tell him to shoot more. When that's what you do and that's your secret sauce, then you need to do that at a high level. Just really proud of him."
Mullins' Monday night shot-making proved the payoff to months of relentless work, Collins said. The senior scored his NU career-high in the win, converting 7-of-10 field goals and 2-of-4 treys.
"It definitely feels great when you can get it going early and just see those shots go in," Mullins said. "It definitely helped fuel me for tonight."
After Northwestern faced its first deficit of the season, the hosts responded with a commanding 17-2 run to build a 22-8 lead with 13:45 remaining in the first half. From there, the Wildcats seldom relinquished their stronghold in a dominant opening 20 minutes of action.
Northwestern led 53-28 entering the halftime break, buoyed by a prolific 66% field goal percentage. The 'Cats assisted 15 of their 21 makes.
This marked the Wildcats' first time scoring at least 53 points in a half since March 9, 2024 against Minnesota.
Page paced the offense with 15 first-half points on 6-of-7 shooting and snared five boards. Martinelli and Mullins each made two triples apiece.
On the defensive end, Northwestern held Cleveland State to an 11-of-29 clip from the field and forced eight turnovers in the first 20 minutes.
The Wildcats maintained their momentum following the break, ripping off a 30-4 run late in the second half as they secured a resounding third consecutive win.
"This was an important three-game stretch for us," Collins said. "We now go on the road for five straight, so this was important to take care of business at home and get some momentum."
The Wildcats return to action on Friday night in a road clash at DePaul. Tip-off from Wintrust Arena is slated for 7:30 p.m. CT on truTV and WGN Radio 720.
