‘Cats to open first round action on Sunday morning

EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern Women's Golf is back in action to kick off their spring season, opening the campaign in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico at the Purdue Puerto Rico Classic. The tournament, which runs Sunday (Feb. 2) through Tuesday (Feb. 4), features six teams ranked within the Top 25 of the WGCA Coaches Poll.
 
The #9 ranked 'Cats will kick off three straight days of golf on Sunday morning beginning at 7:00 a.m. CT. Monday will start at 6:30 a.m. CT and Tuesday's final round will begin at 5:30 a.m. CT, with all three days consisting of a shotgun start.
 
The Field
The Wildcats join an eighteen-team field composed of host-school Purdue, #2 Arkansas, #15 Vanderbilt, #16 LSU, #20 Auburn, #21 Michigan State, Kent State, Ole Miss, UNC Wilmington, North Texas, Georgia Southern, UT San Antonio, Furman, North Florida, Iowa State, Minnesota, and Kansas State.
 
The Leaderboard
The event will be hosted at the par-72, 6,305-yard Grand Reserve Golf Club in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico, the site of the 2025 PGA Tour Puerto Rico Open in March. Live scoring will be available across all three days on GolfStat.com.

Last Time Out
In mid-October, the 'Cats travelled to The Home of Golf, competing in the St. Andrews Links Collegiate in St. Andrews, Scotland. Northwestern joined a four-team field that consisted of the University of St. Andrews, Arizona, and Howard.
 
After two rounds of stroke play at the Jubilee Course, the Wildcats claimed the stroke play team title with a combined score of 742 (359-365).
 
Ashley Yun paced the team with seven birdies to claim the individual title with five-under-par 139 (69-70). Yun carded a three-under-par 69 in her opening round before following it with a two-under 70 in her second round for her first collegiate victory of her career.
 
Dianna Lee (73-71) and Elise Lee (72-72) placed in a tie for third with a score of 144 while Lauryn Nguyen took seventh place with a 147 (72-75).
 
The 'Cats placed in second in match play the following day at the famous Old Course, with Yun (-2), Nguyen (-1), and Jiayi Wang (-1) all finishing their rounds under par.
 
Up Next
Following the Purdue Puerto Rico Classic, the 'Cats head to Florida for the Moon Golf Invitational, February 16-18, in Melbourne.
