‘Cats, Yun and Nguyen All Finish Top 5 at Purdue Puerto Rico Challenge

RIO GRANDE, Puerto Rico – Led by Ashley Yun and Lauryn Nguyen, Northwestern Women's Golf earned a fourth-place finish as the Wildcats opened their spring season at the Purdue Puerto Rico Classic.
The 'Cats, ranked ninth in the nation, used a team tally of 288 during Tuesday's final round at the par-72, 6,305-yard Grand Reserve Golf Club -- the site of the upcoming 2025 PGA Tour Puerto Rico Open -- to finish with a 54-hole total of 861 (290-283-288). Arkansas (292-280-273=845) secured the team title, while Razorback Maria Jose Marin carded a 9-under-par 207 (71-68-68) to claim individual medalist honors. Vanderbilt and Ole Miss rounded out the top three.
After shooting 72-70 on the first two days of play, Yun saved her best for the event's final round. The West Covina, Calif. native piled up four birdies, three of which came on the front nine, en route to a five-under-par 211 (72-70-69).
Nguyen was dominant for the first two rounds (69-69) and sat atop the leaderboard after Monday's second day of competition. The Seattle, Wash. product closed play with a four-under-par 212 (69-69-74) to finish in fifth.
Wildcat Elise Lee finished tied for 18th with an even-par 216 (74-71-71).
