Northwestern Set to Host Windy City Collegiate Classic

WILMETTE, Ill. – Northwestern will welcome a 15-team, 80-player field to Westmoreland Country Club for the annual Windy City Collegiate Classic. The highly anticipated tournament features nine programs ranked in the Top 20 of the WGCA Coaches Poll.
The Wildcats' tournament will kick off on Monday, Sept. 30, with the teams playing 36 holes beginning at 7:30 am CT, and conclude with 18 holes on Tuesday, Oct. 1.
Among the other 15 teams the No. 11 ranked 'Cats will welcome to Westmoreland include: #17 Arizona, #12 Arizona State, Augusta, #15 Duke, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa State, #10 Oregon, Purdue, #4 South Carolina, #2 USC, #3 UCLA, Virginia and #7 Wake Forest.

Competing in their first event of the season at the Mason Rudolph Championship in Franklin, Tennessee, Northwestern placed four in the Top-25 as the Wildcats earned a third-place team finish.
As a team, Northwestern finished the event at 24-under par, marking the third-lowest 54-hole team effort in program history.
Nguyen led the 'Cats' attack, shooting under part in all three rounds at the Vanderbilt Legends Club en route to a nine-under-par finish. The preseason All-America selection (Golf Channel and Golfweek) claimed a share of ninth place in what marked her 13th career top-10 finish as a Wildcat.
Last year's reigning Big Ten Freshman of the year, Yun, led the 'Cats on the weekend with 13 birdies as she carded a seven-under finish that saw her tie for 12th. Dianna Lee and Elise Lee each finished the weekend under-par as well, with both notching four-under finishes in a tie for 22nd.
Last Time at the Windy City Collegiate Classic
In the 2023 Windy City Collegiate Classic hosted at the Glen View Club in Golf, Illinois, Northwestern earned a runner-up team finish in a highly competitive 14-team field. The Wildcats finished the tournament at 23-under par, while UCLA claimed the team title at 32-under par.
Nguyen dominated the tournament, surging to the individual championship with an 11-under par finish in a performance that ultimately netted her Big Ten Women's Golfer of the Week honors.

The 'Cats will trek across the pond to compete at the St. Andrews Links Collegiate in St. Andrews, Scotland, where they will battle alongside the University of St. Andrews, Arizona, and Howard in a three-day event from Monday, Oct. 14 through Wednesday, Oct. 16, with final-round play set for the historic Old Course at St. Andrews.
