CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Winners of 14 of their last 15 games, and each of their first three Big Ten series to open the conference season, Northwestern heads down state for a midweek tilt at Illinois at 7 pm CT on Big Ten Network.
Northwestern is fresh off earning a series sweep over Michigan this past weekend, its first time in program history sweeping Michigan in a 3+ game series. The 'Cats have now won three-straight series vs. Michigan in each of the last three years, they are the first Big Ten program to win three-straight series over Michigan in 32 years (Iowa, 1990-92).
The Wildcats also improved to 9-0 at Sharon J. Drysdale Field with their weekend sweep, and have now won 33-consecutive home games dating back to April 3, 2022 in what marks the longest active home winning streak in Division I Softball. The 'Cats will be back in action this weekend at Maryland, tickets are still available.
The Wildcats have won 11-straight Big Ten series (3-0 this year + each of their eight series last season, finishing with a 20-3 record). Northwestern is 47-8 (.855 win%) in Big Ten play since the start of the 2022 season, the highest mark in the conference.
