Wildcats Return Home to Face Central Michigan Chippewas

Evanston, Ill. - The Northwestern Wildcats are set to return home to Ryan Fieldhouse for a showdown against the Central Michigan Chippewas this Sunday at 1 p.m. CT. Fresh off a resounding victory against the No. 1 ranked Boston College Eagles, where they secured a convincing 14-11 win on the Eagles' home turf in a thrilling 2023 National Championship rematch, the 'Cats are riding high on momentum.

This upcoming match marks only the second all-time meeting between Central Michigan and Northwestern, with the Wildcats currently leading the series 1-0. Their last encounter on May 13, 2022, at Martin Stadium in Evanston, Ill., ended in a dominant 22-7 victory for the Wildcats during the First round of the NCAA tournament.
Star player Izzy Scane is on the cusp of making more history, needing just one point to tie and two to break another school record in career points. Currently boasting an impressive 397 career points, Scane is inching closer to surpassing the current record held by Hannah Nielsen, who accumulated 398 career points for the Wildcats from 2006 to 2009.
In their recent triumph over Boston College, Northwestern showcased their offensive talent with impressive contributions from key players. Izzy Scane led the charge with five goals, Erin Coykendall had four and Madison Taylor scored a hat trick. Coykendall's first-quarter hat trick was particularly noteworthy, marking the second time this season she achieved this feat after scoring three goals in the first quarter against No. 5 Syracuse.
The Wildcats boast an impressive 35-game winning streak at home, the longest active streak in the nation. A victory in this upcoming match would extend their streak to 36 consecutive wins, solidifying dominance on home turf.
