Evanston, Ill. -  B1G lacrosse action commences this weekend for the Wildcats as they prepare to face off against the No. 12 ranked Johns Hopkins Blue Jays in  a showdown at the sold-out Ryan Fieldhouse. With every home game packed to capacity thus far, the stage is set for an electric atmosphere as these two ranked teams clash in conference play.

Their previous encounter on March 23rd, 2023, saw Northwestern assert their dominance with a resounding 19-5 victory over Johns Hopkins. With an impressive all-time record of 18-4 against the Blue Jays, including nine wins in the last decade, the Wildcats have consistently proven to be a force.

Currently sitting at the top of the rankings as the No. 1 team in the nation, Northwestern boasts an impressive 7-1 start to the season, remaining undefeated on their home turf. Their success against ranked opponents is evident with a commendable 4-1 record, while the Blue Jays hold a 3-2 record against such opponents.

In their previous faceoff at Hopkins' Homewood Field, the Wildcats secured a commanding win, led by the attacking power of Erin Coykendall, Izzy Scane, and Madison Taylor. The defensive contributions from Samantha Smith and Samantha White further solidified Northwestern's dominance on both ends of the field.

A key figure for Johns Hopkins is goalkeeper Madison Doucette, currently ranked 5th nationally in saves. Doucette's background with the Wildcats adds an intriguing dynamic to the matchup as she faces her former team. Doucette played for Northwestern from 2019-2022, recording 489 saves as a two-year starter.

Fresh off impressive victories against No. 10 Denver and UAlbany, Northwestern returns home with confidence. Leading the nation in draw controls and boasting the top scoring offense, along with individual accolades for players like Madison Taylor who leads the nation in free position goals per game, the Wildcats are firing on all cylinders.

The game will begin at 1:00 p.m. CT in Ryan Fieldhouse and will air on B1G+.
