
Wildcats Triumph: No. 3 Northwestern Tops No. 1 Boston College 14-11 in National Championship Rematch

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – No. 3 Northwestern (4-1) secured a 14-11 win over No. 1 Boston College (5-1) to win their third game in a row and second consecutive road match.
Playing outdoors at the Newton Lacrosse Field, the reigning national champions led throughout the match. They scored the first three goals of the game and never looked back. NU slightly outshot their opponents 29-28 and won the draw control battle 16-12. Molly Laliberty made six saves for the Wildcats. The win snapped a 17-game home winning streak for the Eagles.
How It Happened
Coykendall scored the first two goals of the game, earning a hat trick in the first half. The Wildcats led 7-2 after the first quarter and 8-5 at halftime. Scane and Taylor both buried two goals in the first half with Northwestern outshooting the Eagles 13-10. The final half saw each team score six times. Scane had a hat trick in the second half alone.
