'Cats Open Final Homestand Against No. 21 USC

EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern returns to Welsh-Ryan Arena on Thursday night to kick off their final homestand of the season against Big Ten newcomer No. 21 USC. First serve between the Wildcats (5-19, 3-13 B1G) and the Trojans (18-8, 10-6) is set for 7 p.m. CT and can be viewed on B1G+.

STORYLINES:
- Junior Rylen Reid led the 'Cats on offense at Washington on Sunday, racking up nine kills to lead the team for the fourth time this season. Reid has been strong on the attack of late, averaging 8.25 kills per game over her last four. She's also contributed on defense, piling up 30 digs and eight blocks over the same span. Reid set a new career high in digs with eight against Iowa two weeks ago, then matched that number against Washington.
- Drew Wright extended her streak of double-digit digs to nine games against the Huskies, as she posted ten to lead the team. Wright's 2.99 digs per set rank 17th in the Big Ten and first on the 'Cats, and she's surpassed her total digs from last season by 73 already in 23 less sets.
- Alexa Rousseau continued her strong 2024 campaign on Sunday, finishing with ten digs and nine assists, falling just one assist shy of her 12th double-double of the season. Rousseau has already posted a triple-double the year, accomplishing the feat for the third time in her career on Sept. 26 at Maryland. She has totaled double-digit assists in all but two games this season, and her 512 total assists rank 16th in the Big Ten.
THE MATCH-UP:
- The Wildcats and Trojans have faced off only once before, as USC triumphed in straight sets in 1982. They'll make their first-ever visit to Evanston this week.
- USC is having a strong first season in the Big Ten, posting a strong 10-6 record in conference play, and earning a No. 21 national ranking heading into Thursday's matchup.
