Northwestern Men's Basketball Set for Media Day in Rosemont

ROSEMONT, Ill. – Northwestern Sullivan-Ubben Head Men's Basketball Coach Chris Collins, Preseason All-Big Ten honoree Brooks Barnhizer, and three-year starter Ty Berry will attend Big Ten Men's Basketball Media Day presented by TIAA at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont on Thursday, Oct. 3.

Barnhizer earned Third Team All-Big Ten and All-Defensive Team honors in 2023-24. The Lafayette, Ind. native appeared and started in all 34 games, averaging 14.6 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 1.8 steals, and 0.8 blocks per game in 36.7 minutes per game, becoming the first player in Big Ten history to record 14.6-plus points, 7.5-plus rebounds, 2.6-plus assists, 1.8-plus steals, and 0.8-plus blocks per game for a single season.

In a 2023-24 campaign shortened by injury, Berry started all 23 games that he appeared in, averaging 11.6 points and 3.9 rebounds per game, while shooting 43.3% from beyond the arc. Alongside Boo Buie and Ryan Langborg, helped Northwestern become the first team in Big Ten history to have three players shoot at least 40-percent from 3-point range.

Last season, Northwestern finished third in the Big Ten Conference, tying a single-season school-record by winning 12 games in conference play. Under the leadership of Sullivan-Ubben Head Men's Basketball Coach Chris Collins, the 'Cats reached the NCAA Tournament's Second Round for the second straight season and finished with a 22-12 record.
