How it Happened
The Wildcats held possession for much of the first half but were unable to convert on any chances, heading into the break still searching for the breakthrough.
In the 57th minute, Regazzoni played a through ball to Aurea del Carmen, who attempted to evade the sweeping Boilermaker goalkeeper. The Purdue keeper handled the ball outside of the 18-yard box, earning her a straight red card and giving the Wildcats a free kick from 19 yards out. Caterina Regazzoni made no mistake on the free kick, firing a shot into the top left corner of the goal to give NU a 1-0 lead that it would not relinquish.
