No. 18 'Cats Open Big Ten Play at Purdue

EVANSTON, Ill. – No. 18 Northwestern women's soccer aims to remain unbeaten when it opens Big Ten play at Purdue on Sunday. Kickoff from Folk Field is set for 12 p.m. CT on B1G+.

The Wildcats are unbeaten through eight games for the first time since 2018. Northwestern's 3.38 goals per game ranks first in the Big Ten and ninth nationally. The 'Cats have tallied three or more goals in seven of eight games this season. NU's 27 goals are the most through eight games in program history.

Last time out, Northwestern outlasted Virginia Tech for a 3-2 win in Blacksburg. Megan Norkett, Boade, and Hase tallied goals for the 'Cats.

Norkett and Boade tallied a goal and an assist each against the Hokies, the fourth time this season Boade has done so in a game and the first time this season for Norkett. Five different Wildcats have notched a goal and an assist in the same game this season (Aulicino, Boade, del Carmen, Hase, Norkett).

Meg Boade ranks first in the Big Ten and second nationally with nine assists.

Emma Phillips leads all Wildcats with 711 out of 720 possible minutes played.

Sunday's matchup will mark the 27th meeting between Northwestern and Purdue on the pitch. The Boilermakers hold a 16-8-2 advantage all-time in the series. Northwestern took down Purdue 3-0 last year behind goals from Meg Boade, Ella Hase, and Josie Aulicino.

Purdue enters Sunday's contest with a 3-5 record, including three losses to ranked teams. Kayla Budish and Gracie Dunaway pace the Boilermakers offensively, with three goals apiece. Charlotte Cyr handles goalkeeping duties for Purdue, allowing 1.80 goals per game.

Northwestern returns home to Martin Stadium following Sunday's contest against Purdue. The Wildcats will square off with No. 19 Michigan on Thursday, September 21 at Martin Stadium. Kickoff against the Wolverines is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT.
