EVANSTON, Ill. — Northwestern Sullivan-Ubben men's basketball coach Chris Collins has announced the signing of graduate transfer Ryan Langborg to the 2023-24 roster. The 6-foot-4 guard comes to Evanston after four years at Princeton and provides the Wildcats with another NCAA Tournament-proven player in the backcourt.
We couldn't be more excited to announce the addition of Ryan Langborg into our program," said Collins. "He is a flat-out winner. Ryan is coming off an outstanding career at Princeton, where he helped lead his team to a conference championship and an appearance in the Sweet 16. He is a terrific addition to our backcourt, with his obvious ability to shoot and score, but also to make plays for others. We feel he is a perfect fit for us with his competitive spirit and championship pedigree that he will bring. We expect Ryan to have a big role on our team this year and can't wait to get him to Evanston."
Despite his sophomore campaign being canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Langborg brings loads of experience to Northwestern, having played in 81 games under former 'Cats assistant coach Mitch Henderson and with a Sweet Sixteen run under his belt. In three seasons, Langborg averaged 9.9 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game.
Last season, Langborg started in all 32 games for the Tigers, averaging 12.7 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.6 assists per contest. His efforts helped Princeton finish tied atop the Ivy League standings and win the Ivy League Tournament as the team's second leading scorer. Langborg scored in double figures in 24 games and led the team in three-point field goals made (2.1).

In the 2023 NCAA Tournament, Langborg's efforts propelled Princeton to its first Sweet Sixteen appearance since 1967. After the Tigers upset No. 2-seeded Arizona, a game in which Langborg posted eight points, two boards and two blocks, he poured in a game-high 22 points, along with six rebounds and four assists, to lift Princeton over No. 7-seeded Missouri. In the Sweet Sixteen against Creighton, Langborg left it all on the floor, posting a season-high 26 points on 11-of-17 shooting, including 4-of-7 from beyond the arc, in 37 minutes of action.
As a junior, the San Diego, California, native started in 22 of his 29 appearances for Princeton, averaging 10.7 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game on 40.5% shooting from beyond the arc. In his freshman season, Langborg saw action in 20 games, averaging 4.4 points and 1.8 rebounds per contest.
Langborg was a four-year starter at La Jolla Country Day School during his prep years. He helped lead the school to victory in the 2019 California D3 State Championship, propelled by a 23-point, 17-rebound performance which earned him MVP honors. Langborg was the 2019 California D3 State Player of the Year, a three-time All-CIF first team selection and a two-time California All-State team nod.
