KANSAS CITY, Mo.  – The Indianapolis Colts selected Northwestern running back Evan Hull in the fifth round with the 176th overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.

Hull is the fourth Wildcat to be selected in this year's draft, tied for the most since 1967 when there were 17 rounds. 1985 was the last time four Northwestern student-athletes were drafted in the same year. He is the first Wildcat running back to be selected since Justin Jackson in 2017. Dominant in both the run and pass games, Hull earned the second All-Big Ten recognition of his career in 2022. He became the 16th player since 2000 to average over 75 rushing yards and 45 receiving yards a game over an entire season, most recently done by Travis Etienne and Saquon Barkley. Hull led all FBS running backs with 54 receptions and was second among all Big Ten receivers with 483 yards after the catch last season.

Hull tallied 2,417 rushing yards, 851 receiving yards, 22 total touchdowns, and 11 100+ yard rushing games in his four-year career at Northwestern. Hull's 213 receiving yards against Duke this season is the second highest single-game total in program history.

The Maple Grove, Minnesota native also turned heads in the pre-draft season. He ripped off an impressive 24-yard run on the first play of the Senior Bowl to cap an impressive week of practice in Mobile, Alabama. At the NFL Combine, he led all running backs in the three-cone drill (6.90 seconds) and the 20-yard shuttle (4.38 seconds) and finished second in the bench press with 21 reps. He also ranked top-seven in the 40-yard dash, 10-yard split, vertical jump and broad jump.

Hull arrived in Evanston as a three-star recruit in 2019 and quickly put his name on the map with a 220-yard, four-touchdown rushing performance against UMass as a true first-year. He helped the Wildcats to the Big Ten Championship Game the following season with a standout performance against Illinois in which he racked up 149 yards and a touchdown on the ground.

He earned his first All-Big Ten Honorable Mention in 2021 as he broke the century mark with 1,009 rushing yards and averaging over 100 all-purpose yards per game.

Also a powerhouse in the classroom, Hull earned Academic All-Big Ten recognition each of the last three years.
