Kendall Halpern and Carleigh Mahoney led Northwestern's defensive effort, both causing a game-high two turnovers and picking up four ground balls.
Northwestern started off strong, rattling off a 4-0 run to end the first quarter but the 'Cats really took over in the second half outsourcing the Commodores (1-4) 12-1. From the end of the second quarter to the beginning of the fourth, the Wildcats rode a 13-0 tear buoyed by an 8-0 third quarter.
The 17-point differential is Northwestern's largest margin of victory so far this season. The last time the Wildcats won by 17 points or more was their 30-3 win over Detroit Mercy in 2020.
The Wildcats will be back at Ryan Field tomorrow for a Senior Day match up with Youngstown State at 1 p.m. CT on B1G+.
