'Cats Fall to Bulldogs in Extras

RUSTON, La. – The Northwestern Wildcats fell 5-4 in an 11-inning matchup to the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs Saturday.
Junior Nolan Morr (0-1) was the pitcher of record out of the bullpen for Northwestern (0-7). The left-hander went 3.1 innings, giving up one run on two hits, allowing two walks and striking out four.
Sophomore Alex Calarco led the way offensively for the Wildcats, going 1-for-5 in the ballgame with three RBI. Kevin Ferrer compiled a standout effort as well, going 3-for-5. Cooper Foard also chipped in, going 1-for-5 for Northwestern with a double and an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Wildcats got on the board immediately, putting up a run in the top of the first inning on a sacrifice fly from Alex Calarco to drive in Kevin Ferrer.
The Wildcats tripled the lead in the third inning, when Calarco drove in another two runs on a single, scoring Ferrer and Vincent Bianchina.
A Cooper Foard double gave Northwestern scored Stephen Hrustich to give the 'Cats a 4-0 advantage in the fifth inning. Louisiana Tech scored two in the fifth, one in in the sixth, and one in the eighth to level the game. Nolan Morr held the Bulldogs scoreless to extend the game in the ninth and tenth, but Louisiana Tech broke through in the eleventh on a walk-off Dalto Davis RBI single to take the game, 5-4.
