'Cats Pour on Goals in Milwaukee

2/23/2023 7:30:00 PM | Women's Lacrosse

MILWAUKEE, Wis. — The Wildcats turned in their highest scoring game of the season so far in a 21-14 win over Marquette on the road, improving their record to 3-1.

Though Izzy Scane led the Northwestern offense once again with eight goals and one assist, Thursday's match-up showcased the depth of the Wildcat roster. Seven other 'Cats added tallies to the scoreboard and five scored more than once.

Erin Coykendall followed Scane with four goals and four assists and Elle Hansen completed a hat trick and added two more assists. Samantha White and Madison Taylor posted two apiece.

Taylor was also dominant in the circle, pulling down a game-high eight draw controls, allowing Northwestern to outpace the Golden Eagles – who currently lead the nation in draw controls per game – in the circle 24-15

Carleigh Mahoney led Northwestern on the opposite end of the field, picking up four ground balls and causing two turnovers. Molly Laliberty added nine saves for the second straight game and allowed just ten goals for a .474 save percentage.

Kiera Shanley put the exclamation point on the win, scoring the last goal of the game and her first of the season.
