Chris Collins Added to Naismith Coach of the Year Late Season Watch List

EVANSTON, Ill. - Chris Collins, head coach of the Northwestern men's basketball team, has been added to the Werner Ladder Naismith Men's College Coach of the Year late season watch list. The award recognizes outstanding performance by college basketball coaches and is one of the most prestigious awards in the sport.
 
Collins has led the Wildcats to a 19-7 record so far this season, with the team sitting in second place of the Big Ten Conference standings earning a 10-5 mark in league play. Northwestern has won four games this year against AP ranked teams, its most in a single-season in program history. The Wildcats recorded the program's first victory over the nation's No. 1, defeating Purdue, 64-58 on Feb. 12.
 
The 10th-year head coach has accrued 152 wins at Northwestern, which ranks third in program history. Collins previously was one of four national finalists for the award in 2016-17 after guiding NU to a 24-12 overall record and the program's first NCAA Tournament. 
 
10 semifinalists will be named on Thursday, March 9. while the winner will be announced on Sunday, April 2, at the Naismith Awards Brunch presented by Frost Bank at the Final Four in Houston.
