EVANSTON, Ill. (October 28, 2023) – After falling on the road earlier in the week, Northwestern (10-11, 4-7 B1G) returns to the Welsh-Ryan Arena floor on Sunday afternoon to host Indiana.  First serve between the Wildcats and Hoosiers is scheduled for 1 p.m. in what will serve as the program's annual match in support of cancer awareness.

LAST TIME OUT
Northwestern was held to just a .091 hitting percentage as it dropped a three-set decision to Ohio State this past Wednesday night inside the Covelli Center in Columbus, Ohio.

Averie Hernandez (7 kills) and Kathryn Randorf (6 kills) led the Wildcats on the offensive side of the net. Kennedy Hill, who chipped in five kills, notched a pair of blocks.

SCOUTING INDIANA
Indiana, which is receiving votes in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA)/Taraflex Coaches Poll, resides at 16-8, a mark that includes a 6-5 ledger against Big Ten Conference opposition.  The Hoosiers are coming off a 3-2 defeat on the road at Illinois last Wednesday.

Sixth-year head coach Steve Aird's team features a balanced attack, with five players averaging north of two kills per set.  Candela Alonso-Corcelles tops the quintet, putting up 2.52 kills per set.  Camryn Haworth dazzled in the Hoosiers' matchup with Illinois earlier in the week, finishing with a triple-double that included 13 kills, 50 assists, and 10 digs.

SERIES STUFF
Sunday's tilt marks the 78th installment in the series between Northwestern and Indiana in volleyball.  The Hoosiers hold a slim 39-38 (.506) advantage in the previous 77 encounters as part of a series that dates back to October 29, 1976.

Indiana edged in front in the all-time series last season following a 3-2 win in Bloomington, Ind. on November 18, 2022.  Randorf was one of three 'Cats to finish in double figures in kills in the match, posting 10 kills, while Alexa Rousseau finished with a double-double (39 assists, 13 digs).

UP NEXT
Northwestern hits the road next week to face Illinois on Wednesday, November 1.  First serve from inside Huff Hall is set for 8 p.m. in a matchup that will air live on Big Ten Network.
