EVANSTON, Ill. — Northwestern (3-4, 1-3 B1G) looks to get back on track as it hosts Maryland (5-2, 2-2 B1G) for a Ryan Field showdown on Saturday, Oct. 28 at 11 a.m. CT on Big Ten Network.

Five Things to Know
  1. Northwestern is 3-1 at Ryan Field so far this season, averaging 27.8 points per game at home compared to 10.0 points per game on the road. The 'Cats have scored 14 of their 17 touchdowns this season at Ryan Field.

  2. DBs Devin Turner and Rod Heard II each recorded an interception in the first quarter against Nebraska. It was the first time Northwestern had recorded two interceptions in the first quarter since doing so against Maryland in the 2020 season-opener.

  3. Pro Football Focus awarded Northwestern a defensive game grade of 85.9 against Nebraska, its highest of the season, after the 'Cats held the Cornhuskers to 248 total yards. Under David Braun, the Wildcat defense has allowed an average of 174.7 passing yards per game, its fewest over the first seven games of a season since 2015 (146.7). Additionally, Northwestern is allowing 62.7 less yards per game through the first seven games than it did last season.

  4. Northwestern has lost only one fumble this season, which leads the Big Ten and ranks fifth nationally.
     
  5. This is only the fourth ever meeting between Northwestern and Maryland, the 'Cats least-played Big Ten rival. NU is 2-1 against Maryland, including a 43-3 victory in the two programs' only matchup at Ryan Field in 2020.
