NU Drops First Road Game of the Season at Michigan

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Boo Buie's team-high 22 points were not enough as Northwestern fell 85-78 to the Michigan Wolverines at the Crisler Center on Sunday.
The Wildcats (12-5, 3-3 B1G) had four players score in double figures, led by Buie, who had 22 points and five assists. Robbie Beran added 16 points and two steals and Matthew Nicholson helped out with 13 points.
Northwestern forced 18 Michigan (10-7, 4-3 B1G) turnovers while committing only eight themselves in Sunday's game. The Wildcats turned those takeaways into 14 points on the offensive end of the floor. Chase Audige's five steals led the way for Northwestern.
How It Happened
Michigan held a double-digit lead in the first half, but NU went on a 12-2 run to close the game. After taking a 34-33 advantage, Northwestern went on a 5-0 run with 1:32 left in the first half, culminating in a three from Julian Roper II, to increase its lead to 39-33. The Wolverines scored the final four points of the half to cut the lead to 39-37 heading into the break. Northwestern did most of its first half damage in the paint, scoring 20 of its 39 points in the lane.
Michigan opened the second half hot to take a 79-68 lead, before Northwestern went on a 6-0 run to cut the deficit to five. NU could not close the gap before falling 85-78.
