EVANSTON, Ill. - A trio of Wildcats scored in double figures as Northwestern saw its bid for a third straight victory come up just short in a 65-62 defeat at the hands of Rutgers this evening inside Welsh-Ryan Arena.

The Wildcats (12-4, 3-2 B1G) were led by Ty Berry and Boo Buie, who each put up 13 points. Buie also dished out seven assists, while Chase Audige helped out with 12 points, two steals, and three blocks.

Northwestern racked up six blocks on the defensive end, with Audige's three rejections leading the way for the Wildcats.

How It Happened

Northwestern struggled out of the gate, falling behind 29-24 heading into halftime.

Rutgers kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing a 52-43 advantage before Northwestern went on a 10-0 run, finished off by Audige's jumper, to seize a 53-52 lead with 4:30 to go in the contest.  After seeing the Wildcats open up a 62-58 lead on a Julian Roper II triple with only 1:14 remaining, Rutgers reclaimed the lead, 63-62, on a Cam Spencer trey with 15 seconds to go, a bucket that highlighted a game-ending 7-0 run which propelled the visiting Scarlet Knights to victory.
