Five Wildcats Score in Double Digits in Exhibition Win

EVANSTON, Ill. - Chase Audige posted game-highs of 15 points and seven assists as Northwestern defeated Quincy 69-49 in an exhibition contest on Wednesday night inside Welsh-Ryan Arena. The Wildcats officially open the 2022-23 regular season at 7 p.m. CT on Monday, Nov. 7 against Chicago State.
Boo Buie (12), Tydus Verhoeven (11), Brooks Barnhizer (11) and Robbie Beran (10) joined Audige in double figures as nine different Wildcats entered the scoring column. Audige played a complete game, shooting 5-of-9 from the field and adding six boards. Beran led the team with eight rebounds. Playing in his first game as a grad transfer from UTEP, Verhoeven contibuted four of the team's nine blocks.
NU shot 39.3% from the field for the game and shot 50% in the first half. Northwestern's defense limited the Hawks to a 31% mark from the field.

How It Happened
After jumping out to a 19-9 advantage, Northwestern went on a 9-0 run with 12:06 left in the first half, culminating in a three from Barnhizer, to increase its lead to 28-9. The Wildcats went into the break with a 36-29 advantage. The team hit six of its eight 3-pointers in the opening stanza.
Following intermission, Northwestern kept widening that lead, expanding it to 62-40 with the help of a 12-1 run.
