Northwestern Finishes Out Regular Season Undefeated

EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern completed their regular season undefeated with a senior day win over Michigan, 19-10.
Izzy Scane led the 'Cats with six goals and Lauren Gilbert followed with three. Four other 'Cats posted multiple goals, including Lindsey McKone, Brennan Dwyer, Erin Coykendall and Leah Holmes. Dwyer also notched a team-high five draw controls.
Northwestern came out strong and showed off their depth, with five different 'Cats scored to build a 5-0 run. Michigan snuck in one goal before Gilbert and Scane combined for a short 3-0 run, to extend the Northwestern advantage. The Wolverines responded with a run of their own, but a goal from McKone gave the 'Cats the momentum going into the second half.
Michigan tried to make a comeback early in the final half, but the Northwestern defense remained solid. Madison Doucette registered seven saves on the day while Kendall Halpern forced three turnovers. A strong defensive effort allowed the Wildcat offense to go on a 6-0 run powered by two goals from Scane to close out the half.
The 'Cats will return to the field for the Big Ten tournament which will be hosted by Penn State. As regular season champions, Northwestern will receive a first round bye.
