Goosenberg Homers Again in Wildcats' Loss

Shawn Goosenberg led the way for the Wildcats once again, collecting three hits including his ninth home run of the season. Goosenberg has tallied five hits and three home runs in the first two games of this series.
Tyler Uberstine got the start for the 'Cats, tossing five strong innings. Uberstine allowed five runs, three of them earned, eight hits, one walk and struck out eight batters.
Rutgers opened the scoring in the first inning with back-to-back two-out doubles to grab a 1-0 lead.
Goosenberg answered immediately with a two-run bomb, his third in the past two games, to give the 'Cats a 2-1 lead.
After Rutgers tied the game in the top of the second, Leo Kaplan put Northwestern back in front with a two-run homer, his second of the season.
Rutgers jumped back in front 4-2 in the next inning, then added another run in the fourth.
A three-run seventh inning from the Scarlet Knights extended their lead to 8-4 and all but wrapped up the contest.
Northwestern wraps up the series with Rutgers tomorrow at noon on BTN+.
