With the wins, head coach Kate Drohan and associate head coach Caryl Drohan became Northwestern softball's all-time wins leaders with their 641st victory. Since taking over the program in 2002, the Drohan's have amassed an impressive 642-371-1 record and developed Northwestern into a softball powerhouse.

Morgan Newport was the story of the day for Northwestern. Newport went 4-for-4 in game one, including a home run and a double, and threw 2.1 scoreless innings in relief. In game two, she tossed a shutout, her first since she no-hit Michigan State in five innings on May 12, 2018, and blasted another home run.
In total, Newport went 6-for-7 with two home runs, three runs scored, and three RBI at the plate, while allowing no runs, four hits and a walk in 9.1 marvelous innings in the circle.
The Wildcats posted a season-high 15 runs in game one. A day after capping off the 'Cats comeback victory with a walk-off double, Sydney Supple crushed her first-career home run, a three-run bomb, to tie the game at three in the second inning.

After falling behind 7-5 in the top of the third inning, Northwestern stormed back in the bottom half of the third with eight runs of their own to take a 13-7 lead. Lauren Caldrone, Rachel Lewis, Jordyn Rudd and Morgan Newport all recorded RBI in the inning, topped off by Newport's three-run homer.
Skyler Shellmyer's sixth inning RBI-single ended the game via mercy rule. Shellmyer recorded two RBI on the day. Rachel Lewis had two hits, two RBI and two runs scored, while Angle Zedak tallied two hits and four runs scored for Northwestern.
Runs were harder to come by in game two, with the teams held scoreless into the fourth inning. Newport provided herself run support with a solo homer in the fourth inning to open the scoring. It ended up being the only run she needed, breezing her way to a complete game shutout.

The 'Cats provided Newport insurance runs in the sixth inning, thanks to a two-run double from Angela Zedak and a Nikki Cuchran RBI-single.
Newport becomes the fourth Northwestern pitcher to toss a shutout this season, joining Danielle Williams (4x), Lauren Boyd and Sydney Supple. It is the seventh shutout and fourth seven-inning shutout thrown by a Wildcat this year.
Northwestern looks to complete the series-sweep of Wisconsin tomorrow at noon on BTN+.
