WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – A late comeback effort from Northwestern fell short as the Wildcats dropped a Saturday afternoon contest to the No.24 Boilermakers, 75-70, in a well-fought game at Mackey Arena.

Despite the loss, the 'Cats shot over 35 percent from three and had strong defensive segments, holding the Boilermakers scoreless for three scoreless stretches of at least 2:50 throughout the game.

Although Northwestern started off slow in the first half, the 'Cats clawed their way back from a 13-point deficit; closing the half on a 12-2 run with key threes from Ty Berry, Pete Nance and a pair from Chase Audige. The 'Cats had a stretch of strong defense holding the Boildermakers scoreless over a 3:14 stretch in the middle of the first.

Three wildcats finished the game in double figures. Ryan Young made his first start of the season and scored in double digits for his third straight game, finishing with ten points. Pete Nance heated up in the start of the second half and finished the game with a team-high 20 points (8-of-12 from the field, 60 percent from behind the arc). Audige was the third Wildcat to contribute in the double digits, ending the game with 18 points.

Northwestern came out firing in the second half, going three-for-three in the opening minutes. Chase Audige continued to dominate offensively and ended the game with a career-high six assists; Pete Nance also finished the contest with six assists. The 'Cats continued to fight on defense, holding Purdue to zero field goals for a 3:53 stretch in the second half.

To compliment his strong offensive performance, Pete Nance filled the stat sheet defensively with a team-high eight rebounds, as well as a block and a steal. Nance has recorded at least seven rebounds in five-consecutive games for the first time in his career.

Miller Kopp brought back some energy in the last five minutes, sinking a three to bring it back to a four point game. Northwestern went on a 6-0 run towards the end in the span of 16 seconds, challenging the Boilermakers until the final buzzer.

The Wildcats return home on Wednesday, February 10 to host the Indiana Hoosiers at 8 pm CT, with coverage live on Big Ten Network. Earlier this season the Wildcats took down the Hoosiers, 74-67, at Assembly Hall on December 23.
