EVANSTON, Ill. – No. 6 Northwestern (9-3) gets ready for a two-game road slate this weekend. The 'Cats head to Ann Arbor for a top-10 battle with No. 3 Michigan (9-0) on Friday. Game-time is set for 5 p.m. CT and will be streamed live on B1G+. Chicago's B1G Team then heads to Indiana on Sunday to take on Ball State at 11 a.m. CT.
The 'Cats are coming off a split of top-10 matchups in the first week of the Big Ten season, taking down No. 7 Maryland, 3-1, on Thursday before suffering a double-overtime defeat to No. 8 Penn State on Sunday.
Bente Baekers and Clara Roth both tallied a goal and assist on Thursday, while reigning Big Ten Freshman of the Year Maddie Zimmer added on a goal of her own in a statement win over Maryland.
Annabel Skubitz posted a career-high 11 saves against Penn State, but Bente Baekers' lone goal was not enough to secure the 'Cats second straight top-10 win.
Baekers leads the team with 10 goals and seven assists in 10 games, while Northwestern ranks fifth in the country with 3.83 goals per game and third with 3.33 assists per game. The 'Cats also rank third in the country with a +2.52 scoring margin.
Northwestern split the season series against Michigan last season, while winning their only matchup in 2019.
