Four Wildcats Compete at ITA Midwest Regional

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Four Wildcats competed in the ITA Midwest Regionals hosted by Michigan State this weekend. Graduate Brian Berdusco, senior Simen Bratholm, senior Steven Forman and senior Trice Pickens all competed in both the individual singles and doubles draws.
Trice Pickens won four matchups to reach the semifinals. Pickens upset the #9-seed Jacob Bickersteth of Michigan, 7-6(5), 6-2, in the round of 64, before knocking-off Brian Bilsey of Notre Dame, 1-6, 6-4, 6-4, in the round of 32. Pickens defeated Vito Tonejc of DePaul in two sets, before taking down #11 Robert Cash of Ohio State, 6-3, 6-4, to reach the semifinals. Pickens' incredible run came to an end in the semis, falling
In two sets to #7 JJ Tracy of Ohio State.
Brian Berdusco won his opening match against Pedro Alvarez of Chicago State, while Steve Forman and Simen Bratholm failed to advance to the round of 32.
Both Northwestern duos reached the quarterfinals of the doubles draw. Bratholm and Berdusco were seeded eighth in the tournament, while Pickens and Forman earned the 13th seed. After a bye in the round of 64, Bratholm and Berdusco took down a Wisconsin duo, 8-4, to advance to the quarterfinals.
Pickens and Forman defeated Le Gal Perez and Isakkson from Illinois State, 8-2, in the round of 64, then took down Lohse and Schlueter of Western Michigan, 8-6, to advance to reach the quarterfinals.
