EVANSTON, Ill. - Combe Family Head Lacrosse Coach Kelly Amonte Hiller and the No. 3 Northwestern will kick off the 2020 season with a home and away weekend double header. This Friday the Wildcats will host Detroit Mercy at Ryan Fieldhouse at 5 pm and then will travel to North Carolina on Sunday to challenge No. 21 Duke at 11 a.m.

The 2019 Big Ten Champions welcome back 29 players from the 2019 season, including 2019 Big Ten Freshman of the Year Izzy Scane and Team USA U19 World Champions Greta Stahl, Madison Doucette and Jane Hansen. NU will also return Big Ten Players to Watch Megan Kinna and Lindsey McKone and Inside Lacrose Preseason All-Americans Brenna Dwyer, Ally Palermo and Carson Copeland.

Amonte Hiller will welcome 12 new 'Cats to the team including U19 World Championship runner-up Eve Hritzik and Inside Lacrosse top 50 recruits Jane Hansen, Logan Lillie and Erin Coykendall

In the 2020 season, NU's home schedule will feature ten home games that will be split between Ryan Fieldhouse and Martin Stadium with marquee matchups including an NCAA quarterfinals rematch against Syracuse and top-ranked North Carolina.

Northwestern will oppose Detroit Mercy for the second time in program history. The 'Cats hosted the Titans in 2018 and came away with the 20-2 win. In preseason polls Detroit Mercy was voted to finish fourth in the Southern conference while Chicago's Big Ten Team was voted third in the country by the IWCLA preseason poll.

In the past 10 years, the Wildcats have gone 8-2 against the Blue Devils. Last year the 'Cats secured a nail-biting victory over Duke, 21-20.
