EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern looks to move to 2-0 Saturday when the Wildcats take on Chicago State at Welsh-Ryan Arena. Tip-off is slated for 4 p.m. CT on Big Ten Network.

This is the 14th all-time meeting between Northwestern and Chicago State and the first since Dec. 2018, which the Wildcats won 88-46. Northwestern is a perfect 13-0 in those games.

The 'Cats opened their season Wednesday evening with a 92-49 win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff, the seventh win in a season opener during Sullivan-Ubben Men's Basketball Coach Chris Collins' eight seasons with Northwestern. 92 points marked the highest output for NU in a season opener since the 'Cats scored 94 points vs. Mississippi Valley State to open their historic 2016-17 season.

Northwestern's offense exploded for 53 points in the second half against UAPB, the first time Northwestern scored more than 50 points in a half since putting up 53 in the second half against Brown in Dec. 2017. First-year Ty Berry led all scorers in the second half with 15 points while Northwestern finished with five players scoring in double digits.

Chicago State is off to an 0-4 start to the season. Like Northwestern, the Cougars bring back a large portion of their production from last year, including 74.5% of their scoring.

Storylines to Watch
  1. Seven different Wildcats connected on three-pointers against Arkansas-Pine Bluff. The last time Northwestern had seven or more players hit a three-pointer in a game was when eight players did so in against Chicago State in 2018. Northwestern has had at least five players connect on a three-point shot in each of the last six games with Chicago State.

  2. After sitting out last season due to NCAA transfer rules, redshirt-sophomore Chase Audige starred in his debut for Northwestern, scoring 16 points on 6-of-12 shooting with three three-pointers. Audige fits into a recent history of big Northwestern debuts for transfer athletes. The last three transfers, Pat Spencer, AJ Turner and Ryan Taylor, all scored in double digits in their debuts with the Wildcats before going on to finish the season in the top four on the team in scoring. Audige's 16 points were the most in a debut since Taylor's 20 against New Orleans to open the 2018-19 season.

  3. The 'Cats dominated inside against UAPB with 30 points in the paint and 50 rebounds, their most rebounds in a game since 2016 when they also brought in 50 against Mississippi Valley State. Pete Nance, Robbie Beran, Ryan Young and Ty Berry all collected six or more rebounds, the first time four Wildcats have accomplished that feat in the same game since defeating Providence last November.

  4. Ryan Greer achieved a plus/minus of 36 while Robbie Beran reached 32 against UAPB. No Wildcat had a plus/minus greater than 30 in any game in 2019. Greer also finished with a career-high eight assists while tying his career mark for rebounds with four.
