 Game Notes

EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern will hit the road to take on No. 14 Michigan State on Wednesday evening in East Lansing. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. and will be broadcasted on Big Ten Network

Last time out, sophomore Miller Kopp led the team with 20 points, extending his streak to five consecutive game with 15 or more points and nine straight in double-digits.

Wednesday marks the 130th meeting between Northwestern and Michigan State and the second time this season. An NU win would snap Michigan State's seven-game home winning streak. In the last meeting, the Spartans escaped Welsh-Ryan Arena with a 77-72 victory.  The Spartans currently sit tied atop the Big Ten at 7-2 in conference play and 15-5 overall.

STORYLINES:

Boo is Back: Last meeting between the Wildcats and Spartans, Boo Buie came off the bench and turned heads with a 26-point performance. He is one of three B1G players to come off the bench to score at least 26 points in a game but the only rookie to accomplish this feat this season.

Next Man Up:  Northwestern's underclassmen account for 76.8% of the Wildcats scoring this season. Four of the five players averaging 9.0 points or more are rookies or sophomores.

Miller Time: Miller Kopp is the first NU underclassman to score 15-or-more in five straight games and first NU player to do so since John Shurna did so in 11 straight games in 2010.

QUOTABLES:

"We're playing these young guys and having them try to figure it out on the fly.  So it's a lot of teaching situational stuff, offensively and defensively. We just gotta keep working and getting better, and hopefully we can break through."

- Sullivan-Ubben Head Men's Basketball Coach Chris Collins

"We're just gonna keep fighting every day.  We're young, but we're not using it as an excuse.  We're in these games, we know we can win these games. Right now we're just coming every day with the mindset that we have to break through. We're not going to stop until we find a way to win."

- First-Year Boo Buie
