‘Cats Set to Face Michigan in B1G Tournament Opener

EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern will head to Baltimore to face Michigan in the first round of the 2019 Big Ten Championship.
The Wildcats finished the regular season 12-4, finishing on a three game win streak after defeating Ohio State, Michigan and Notre Dame. In their season finale against OSU senior Selena Lasota had a game-high six goals and senior goalkeeper had a game-high 10 saves. First-year Izzy Scane scored four goals, Lindsey McKone score three, Lauren Gilbert had two and Megan Kinna and Claire Quinn each had one.
The Wildcats will face the Wolverines for the second time this season, with the 'Cats defeating U of M, 15-11. This will be the 'Cats fifth consecutive Big Ten Tournament appearance.
The Big Ten Tournament will be hosted by Johns Hopkins University with semifinal games on May 3 and the championship game on May 5. Friday's game is set to begin at 6:30 pm CT at Homewood Field.
WEEKLY HONORS
For the seventh consecutive week, first-year Izzy Scane was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week after contributing four goals, one assist and one ground ball. Sophomore Brennan Dwyer earned her first Big Ten Defender of the Week honor after grabbing a game-high 10 draw controls for the fifth straight game.
LASOTA TOPS THE LIST
Through the end of the regular season, senior Selena Lasota has totaled 267 career goals which ties her for fifth all-time on the NCAA list, third on the Big Ten all-time list and is tied for the most goals among all active players. Lasota also leads the Big Ten and is fifth in the NCAA in goals per game (4.17). The senior was selected as a finalist to the Tewaaraton Top 25 Watch List for the fourth time in her career.
LOOK BACK AT LAST WEEK
The 'Cats closed out regular season play defeating Ohio State, 17-12. Northwestern had contributions from Selena Lasota (6), Izzy Scane (4), Lindsey McKone (3), Lauren Gilbert (2), Megan Kinna (1) and Claire Quinn (1). Mallory Weisse also grabbed 10 saves and was tied for a game-high three ground balls.
B1G LEAD
The Wildcats lead the Big Ten in draw controls per game (17.50), points per game (24.38) and shots on goal per game (27.06). The 'Cats also have the nation's top scoring offense (17.94) and lead the nation in shooting percentage (.514).

Selena Lasota leads the Big Ten in goals per game (4.33), goals (65), points (80) and points per game (5.33). Through sixteen games, sophomore Brennan Dwyer leads the Big Ten in draws controls per game (8.69) and Izzy Scane leads in shooting percentage (.616).
