Nyfjäll Named Big Ten Freshman of the Year, First Team All-Conference

ROSEMONT, Ill. - David Nyfjäll has been named the Big Ten Men's Golf Freshman of the Year, the league office announced Tuesday. Nyfjäll also earned a first team All-Big Ten selection, voted on by the conference's coaches.
Nyfjäll has had a breakout rookie campaign, earning back-to-back individual titles at the Chatham Hills Collegiate (-11) and UNCG Grandover Collegiate (-5) earlier this season. His 11-under 205 score at the Chatham Hills Collegiate is tied for the second-best by any NU first-year in program history.
The Uppsala, Sweden native boasts the lowest stroke average on the team at 71.79 and has racked up five top-15 finishes, with the most recent at the Big Ten Championships for a share of 11th place.
Chicago's Big Ten Team will await its postseason fate this week as the 2019 NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championships selection announcement will take place this Wednesday, May 1 at 9 p.m. ET, on Golf Channel's Golf Central and streamed live on the Golf Channel website.
