Thorson Selected by Eagles in Fifth Round of 2019 NFL Draft

EVANSTON, Ill. — Northwestern quarterback Clayton Thorson was selected in the fifth round with the 167th overall pick by the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2019 National Football League Draft Saturday afternoon.

Thorson is the eighth quarterback in program history to be selected in the NFL Draft and the third in the last 10 years.
 
The program's all-time passing leader with 10,731 yards and 61 touchdowns, Thorson started a Big Ten record 53-straight games at quarterback to lead the Wildcats to four-straight bowl games. The Wildcats won three-straight bowlsfor the first time in program history and claimed the program's first Big Ten West Division title in 2018 with Thorson at the helm.
 
A three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection, Thorson finished his career second in Big Ten history with 991 career completions and fifth in career passing yards.
