‘Cats Host Wolverines for Senior Day

EVANSTON, Ill. – No. 6 Northwestern will host No. 8 Michigan Thursday afternoon at Martin Stadium it their final regular season home game.
 
In last week's battle with No. 2 Maryland, senior Selena Lasota led with a game-high six goals and first-year Izzy Scane, sophomore Lauren Gilbert and senior Emily Stein combined for seven goals. Senior goalkeeper, Mallory Weisse led with a game-high 13 saves.
 
After contributing three goals, one assist and three draw controls, Scane earned her fifth consecutive Big Ten Freshman of the Week Award, the most of any freshman since the award first began in 2015.
 
The 'Cats are 7-0 all-time against the Wolverines with NU winning their last meeting 16-7 in 2018.
 
At the conclusion of Thursday's game, the Northwestern Athletic Department will honor the Class of 2019 seniors. Thursday's game is set to begin at 3 pm CT and will be televised on ESPNU.
 
TEWAARATON TRIO
The Wildcats have three student-athletes on the Tewaaraton Watch List. Joining senior Selena Lasota in the second round of additions will be junior Lindsey McKone and first-year Izzy Scane. This is the third year Lasota has been included on the watch list and a first for both McKone and Scane. Scane is one of only two first-years to be included on this year's list.
 
LASOTA IS ON THE LIST
In the game against Maryland, senior Selena Lasota reached 50 goals for the season and 252 career goals. With 316 career points, Lasota lands six on the Big Ten all-time career points list, just three points behind Coach Kelly Amonte Hiller. Lasota leads the Big Ten and is fifth in the NCAA in goals per game (4.17). Lasota is also second among all active players in career points and goals.
 
LOOK BACK AT LAST WEEK
In the 'Cats game against Maryland, Selena Lasota led with a game-high six goals and tied for a game-high six points. Brennan Dwyer was one draw control away from tying her career-high at 11. Senior Emily Stein tied her career high with two goals.
 
WEEKLY HONORS
First-year Izzy Scane received her fifth consecutive Big Ten Freshman of the Week award after scoring three goals, one assist and picking up three draw controls in the 'Cats win against #2 Maryland. Scane now holds the record for most consecutive Big Ten Freshman of Week awards. 
 
GOALS FOR GILBERT
Sophomore Lauren Gilbert has scored at least one goal in each of the thirteen  games the Wildcats have played this weekend.  Gilbert has totaled 33 goals this season and 46 in her career.
