‘Cats Host Terps in Top Ten Midweek Matchup

EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern will put their five-game win streak on the line as they host #2 Maryland Thursday evening at Martin Stadium.
The Wildcats are coming off of a dominant 20-13 road win against #16 Johns Hopkins. Against the Blue Jays, senior Claire Quinn scored a career-high five goals to help drive the 'Cats second half comeback, giving them their third Big Ten win of the season.
With her four-goal contribution, first-year Izzy Scane earned her fourth consecutive Big Ten Freshman of the Week award. This ties Scane for the most Freshman of the Week honors of any women's lacrosse student-athlete .
The #B1GCats are 6-15 all time against Maryland with the Terps taking the last meeting, 20-16.
Thursday's game is set to begin at 7 pm and will be televised on Big Ten Network.
WEEKLY HONORS
First-year Izzy Scane received her fourth consecutive Big Ten Freshman of the Week award after contributing four goals, one assist, two ground balls, three draw controls and causing one turnover in the 'Cats win against Johns Hopkins.
LASOTA IS ON THE LIST
In the doubleheader weekend against Penn and Penn State, senior Selena Lasota became the fourth Wildcat to reach 300 career points, landing eighth on the all-time Big Ten list. The senior has reached 246 career goals, which puts her 19th on NCAA all-time list, seventh on the Big Ten all-time list and second among all active players. Lasota also claimed the ninth spot on the NU all-time assists list with 62.
LEADING THE NATION
First-year Izzy Scane is leading the nation in shooting percentage through twelve games, shooting .733 pct. on 33 goals. The 'Cats also have the top scoring offense in the nation (19), points per game (19) and top shooting percentage (.530).
DYNAMIC DUO
Junior Lindsey McKone and sophomore Lauren Gilbert have each scored at least one goal in each of the twelve games this season. McKone and Gilbert have totaled 26 and 31 goals respectively.
RACK EM' UP
The 'Cats have scored 228 goals through week ten of the season. The Wildcats are ranked No. 1 in the country in scoring offense and second in points per game (26.33). NU has seven student-athletes with double digit goals this season including Selena Lasota (44), Izzy Scane (33), Lauren Gilbert (31), Lindsey McKone (26) Claire Quinn (19), Jill Girardi (13) and Megan Kinna (12) .
