'Cats Ready for Weekend Doubleheader

EVANSTON, Ill. – This weekend, Northwestern will welcome two Pennsylvania teams to Evanston for a weekend double header at Lanny and Sharon Martin Stadium and Ryan Fieldhouse and Wilson Field.
The Wildcats will first face off against Penn State on Thursday night for their second Big Ten match up of the season. The 'Cats are 22-9 all time against the Nittany Lions with PSU defeating NU 21-16 in their last meeting.
Chicago's Big Ten Team will be back at Martin Stadium on Sunday afternoon for a top-10 match up against No. 5 Penn. This will be the 19th meeting between these two team, with the 'Cats having a 14-4 advantage. The last time these two teams met, NU defeated the Quakers in a thrilling 12-11 OT victory.
Thursday's game against the Nittany Lions will take place at 7 pm at Martin Stadium and will be aired on Big Ten Network. The Wildcats will then take on No. 5 Penn on Sunday afternoon at 1 pm at Ryan Fieldhouse and Wilson Field.
WEEKLY HONORS
First-year Izzy Scane received her second Big Ten Freshman of the Week honor. In the 20-goal victory over Marquette, Scane scored a game-high five goals while also grabbing five draw controls and dishing out one assist.
LASOTA GOAL WATCH
Senior Selena Lasota is on pace to claim a top-20 spot on the NCAA Women's Lacrosse all-time goals list. She currently has 232 career scores and is second among all active players for career points and goals. Lasota also claimed the No. 3 spot on the NU all-time goals list.
LEADING THE NATION
First-year Izzy Scane is leading the nation in shooting percentage thorough nine games, shooting .750 pct. on 21 goals. The 'Cats are also leading the nation in scoring offense, averaging 19.11 goals per game and shooting percentage (.544).
B1G LEAD
The Wildcats lead the Big Ten in goals per game (19.5), assist per game (7.8), points per game (27.3), shot percentage (.542), saves per game (9.6) and draw controls per game (17.60).
HOT STREAK
Sophomores Lindsey McKone and Lauren Gilbert have each scored at least one goal in the nine games this season. McKone and Gilbert have totaled 20 and 25 goals respectively.
RACK EM' UP
The 'Cats have scored 195 goals through their first nine games. The Wildcats are ranked No. 1 in the country in scoring offense and first in points per game (27.11). NU has five student-athletes with double digit goals this season including Selena Lasota (30), Lauren Gilbert (25), Izzy Scane (21), Lindsey McKone (20) and Claire Quinn (14).
