CHICAGO - Despite another statement game by first-year Boo Buie, Northwestern fell to DePaul, 83-78, at Wintrust Arena on Saturday night.
Buie shined in his first career start tallying 20-plus points for the second consecutive game. The Albany, N.Y. native is the first NU rookie to have three 20-point games in a single season since Dave Sobolewski in 2011-12.
Following Buie was sophomore Miller Kopp with a career night of his own with 21 points. Overall, the Wildcats shot the ball well finishing 31-of-59 from the field shooting 9-of-26 from three.
Redshirt first-year Ryan Young finished with a double-double notching 11 points and 11 rebounds. He scored the last eight points for the 'Cats keeping the game close all the way to the buzzer. This is already Young's third career double-double in only his first season with the Wildcats.
In the first half, efficient offense propelled Northwestern to a four point lead heading into the locker room. The Wildcats shot 15-of-27 from the floor and 5-of-13 from three. Buie led the scoring brigade continuing his incredible performance against Michigan State finishing the stanza with 18 points and four assists. Kopp also finished the half with double-figures with 12 points on 4-of-6 shooting.
Despite the game never being tied, neither team led by more than 11 for the entire game. Northwestern got a hold of the lead in the second half but with just a little over two minutes to play, DePaul's Coleman-Lands hit a three-pointer to spark a Blue Demon run that put the game out of reach for Chicago's Big Ten Team the rest of the way.
