Wildcats Prepare for Illinois Double Header

EVANSTON, IL. – The Wildcats are currently on a two-game win streak, after two conference wins against Ohio State and Maryland last weekend. Northwestern swept the Buckeyes 3-0 and won their first five set conference match against the Terrapins, 3-2.
Junior Nia Robinson continued to lead the offense with double digit kills in both games. Robinson recorded 19 kills against Maryland, matching a previous season high set against Indiana. First-year Temi Thomas-Ailara also posted double-digit kills in both games, 12 against Ohio and 15 against Maryland. Junior Alana Walker dominated the offense against Maryland, recording a new career high of 17 kills, while contributing two aces and three blocks.
Graduate transfer Payton Chang also hit record high numbers against Maryland, putting up 53 assists, career highs of 17 digs and two blocks, and a kill. Sophomore Ella Gbrac and first-year Desiree Becker also had several key kills and blocks in both games, securing both wins for Northwestern.
The 'Cats will close out their season with two games against No. 17 Illinois on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday at 7 p.m. Their final game will also be their senior night at Welsh-Ryan Arena.
