EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern scored in the first minute of the second half, but could not complete the comeback against Penn State on the road Sunday.
After going down 2-0 in the first half, the 'Cats turned in an energetic second half performance. Junior Regan Steigleder scored her second goal of the season thirty seconds into the period on a header from a cross from Olivia Korhonen.
The 'Cats gave up a header on a corner kick eight minutes later that just crossed the line and the Nittany Lions did not relinquish their 3-1 lead.
Northwestern moved to 5-8-3 on the season and 3-4-2 in conference. With two games left to play, Northwestern has 11 points and ended their game in seventh place pending results around the Big Ten on Sunday afternoon. The top eight teams make the Big Ten Tournament.
The Wildcats will close out the end of the regular season with two crucial matchups at home on Thursday against Minnesota and on Sunday against Wisconsin. Thursday will be Northwestern's Think Pink game and will be televised on BTN, while Sunday will be Senior Day.

A textbook header from Regan on the cross from Olivia Korhonen and we're right back in it. Plenty of time to find an equalizer. #B1GCats x #GoCats pic.twitter.com/Z1uBHmkyg2
