EVANSTON, Ill. – The Northwestern Wildcats shutout Rutgers Scarlet Knights Sunday afternoon, earning a sweet 2-0 victory at Martin Stadium.
Northwestern came out strong in the first half, with Jose Del Valle nailing a header in the 11th minute, assisted by Matt Moderwell. The Wildcats kept up their offensive domination with two more attempted shots by Jose Del Valle and Logan Weaver.
The 'Cats ended the half on a high note with a sneaky, cross-cage goal from first year Logan Weaver for his first career goal.
After a stellar offensive half, the Wildcats turned their focus to defense. The Scarlet Knights had no shots on goal in the first 15 minutes of the second half. The last minutes of the game saw two attempts by Rutgers to score a goal, but nothing was getting by Miha Miskovic for his 11th shutout of his career.
Chicago's Big Ten Team improves to a record of 6-7-1 on the season. The Wildcats return to action on Friday, Oct. 25 to host the Michigan State Spartans. The kick-off is set for 7:30 p.m.

The cross from Moderwell. The header from Del Valle. Ruthless.
