'Cats Host Maryland in 2018 Big Ten Opener Friday

EVANSTON, Ill. — Following two wins last week, Northwestern men's soccer looks to continue its winning streak when the Wildcats open up Big Ten play versus Maryland at Martin Stadium on Friday, Sept. 14 at 7 p.m. CT.
Northwestern [4-1-1] defeated the UMKC, 1-0, on Sunday with a goal from Ty Seager. This was Seager's first goal of the season and the third of his career. The 1-0 win over the Roos came just two days after NU topped Loyola, 1-0, in overtime.
Goaltender Miha Miskovic earned Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week after recording back-to-back shutouts against Loyola and UMKC, earning the award for the second time this season.
Maryland [1-2-2] enters this matchup off a 1-0 win over West Virginia on Monday. Amar Sejdic currently leads the Terrapin offense, scoring their lone goal of the season with Chase Gasper recording an assist off Sejdic's goal. Maryland also received votes in the Sept. 4 United Soccer Coaches poll.
The Wildcats 4-1-1 mark is the program's best start to a season since the 2013 campaign.
Northwestern has split its last four contests with Maryland. The Wildcats won in the 2014 and 2015 seasons with the Terrapins taking the games in the 2016 and 2017 seasons.
