EVANSTON, Ill. -- Senior Weekend has arrived in Evanston, and Northwestern hopes to honor its seven seniors by extending its current eight-game winning streak during a three-game set with Iowa at Sharon J. Drysdale Field.
First pitch Friday is set for 4 p.m. while Saturday's game will begin at 1 p.m. and Sunday's contest is at noon. All three games will be streamed live on BTN Plus on BTN2Go.
After Saturday's game, Northwestern will host its 12th-annual Purple Auction to celebrate the past, present and future of the program. The party will start at 6:30 p.m. at the Segal Visitor Center on main campus. There, NU will pay tribute to its seven seniors: Renee Ariola, Nicole Bond, Abbey Boyd, Brooke Marquez, Sammy Nettling, Marissa Panko and Sabrina Rabin.
Formal Senior Day ceremonies will take place prior to Sunday's first pitch, so arrive at Sharon J. Drysdale Field early!

Northwestern is red hot entering this series. Winners of their last eight games, the Wildcats offense has been averaging 10.8 runs per game during this stretch, pushing the team all the way up to seventh in the nation in scoring this season with 6.51 runs per game.
The most dramatic victory in this winning streak came Sunday at Rutgers when Northwestern erased a 7-1 deficit in the seventh inning with a seven-run rally for an 8-7 victory. Nettling had a home run and a three-run triple in the inning while Panko, Lily Novak and Mac Dunlap all clobbered their first-career homers in the frame. With those blasts, every regular starter in the NU order now has a home run this season, the first time that has happened since 2007.
That Sunday game also marked the fourth time in Big Ten play that Northwestern has erased a deficit of at least two runs in the seventh inning and ended up victorious.
In the circle, Kenna Wilkey won each of the first seven games of Northwestern's current winning streak, improving to 15-4 on the season. Sophomore Morgan Newport chucked a three-hitter in the Wildcats' last contest, a 4-1 win over Loyola (Chicago) on Wednesday.
Iowa enters this series on a nine-game losing streak, but prior to that stretch the Hawkeyes swept a three-game set against always dangerous Wisconsin while splitting a doubleheader against Nebraska.
This weekend is far from the finale for the seven Wildcats' seniors. Northwestern will travel to Lincoln Park for a May 2 game against DePaul before closing the regular season with a three-game series May 4-6 at Wisconsin. Madison also serves as the host of the Big Ten Tournament the following weekend. NU currently is fourth in the league, 1.5 games behind Minnesota. The top two teams in the standings, Michigan (13-1) and Indiana (15-2), play a series this weekend.
