Northwestern Set for Final Road Trip of Season

EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern will make its final road trip of the regular season this weekend, traveling to face Penn State Friday afternoon before a match at No. 3 Ohio State on Sunday. The action on Friday is scheduled to start at 3 p.m. CT, and Sunday's first serve is set for noon.
Last weekend, the 'Cats split two matches with conference foes. NU took down Michigan State 6-1 on Friday, April 6, winning the doubles point and all but one singles matchup. On Sunday, April 8, the Wildcats fell to No. 12 Michigan by a score of 4-0.
Chicago's Big Ten Team has recorded three Big Ten wins in its past five matches, led by strong play from its top two singles players in recent weeks.
Dominik Stary, playing at No. 1, has won each of his last three decisions, including a victory over No. 94 Gergely Madarasz in straight sets. In his last match, Stary faced off against the No. 7 player in the nation and won the first set, but the contest went unfinished. At No. 2 singles, Nick Brookes has won four of his past six decisions. The first year leads the team with nine victories in the dual season.
Penn State comes into Friday's match with a 13-9 record on the year and a 3-4 clip in the conference. The Nittany Lions have been a force at home this season, willing all nine contests that they have hosted in University Park.
The third-ranked Buckeyes have been a cut above the competition throughout the campaign, winning 22 of 24 matches they have played. Ohio State is also undefeated at home, boasting at 13-0 mark in Columbus, and has beaten all seven conference opponents it has faced.
The weekend's contests will be the final action away from home for the 'Cats this year, as they finish off the season with a pair of home matches the following week.
