EVANSTON, Ill. — Northwestern will wrap up a season-long six-game homestand Monday afternoon when it plays host to No. 7/9 Syracuse at Lanny and Sharon Martin Stadium.
The Wildcats are 6-2 at home this season and a perfect 6-0 at home versus the Orange all time. Syracuse enters Monday's game 6-3 overall after suffering an 11-10 overtime loss at Notre Dame on Saturday. A pair of the Orange's three losses have come on the road this season.
Monday will mark the 17th meeting between the two storied programs. The Wildcats hold a 12-4 advantage, including the perfect 6-0 mark at home. The Orange have won three of the last four meetings following a stretch of 11-straight wins by the 'Cats from 2006-13.
The 'Cats are coming off a 16-7 win in their Big Ten opener versus Michigan on Friday night. NU needed just 24 shots to score 16 goals and held the Wolverines to single digits thanks to a combined 13 saves by redshirt first year Julie Krupnick (7) and junior Mallory Weisse (6).
The Wildcats and Orange will square off in front of a national audience on the Big Ten Network with Dean Linke and Sheehan Shanwick Burch on the call. The 'Cats will appear on BTN one final time when they travel to Maryland to conclude the regular season on April 26.
Senior midfielder Sheila Nesselbush, a 2018 Tewaaraton Watch List member, scored a hat trick and set a career high with two assists versus Michigan. The co-captain matched her career high with five points for the second time in the last five games and has now recorded 13 points over the last four games.
