EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern finishes its pre-conference schedule with a pair of games this Saturday, March 17, at the Hoosier Classic hosted by Indiana in Bloomington, Ind.

On what is typically an off weekend for Northwestern prior to winter quarter final exams, the Wildcats will travel down and invade the tournament for one day only, taking on UIC at 9 a.m. CT/10 a.m. ET and the host Hooisers at 2 p.m. CT/3 p.m. ET. NU will then return to campus for examinations. Both games will be audio streamed live on NUsports.com via Studio N, while the afternoon game against Indiana also will be streamed on BTN Plus on BTN2Go.

The full Classic is a three-day event also including Northern Illinois and UW-Green Bay. NU and Indiana previously met at the Kajikawa Classic in Tempe, Arizona, in a game NU won, 5-1.

Northwestern comes into the weekend on a six-game winning streak, having swept its schedule last weekend at the Hilton Plaza Classic in Houston. The current streak began before that at the Husky Classic March 5 with a 4-0 victory over then-No. 11 Alabama.

First-years Rachel Lewis and Kenna Wilkey were honored by the Big Ten this week for their performances in Houston. Lewis was named the Big Ten Player of the Week after batting .438 and slugging 1.188 with three doubles, three home runs and 11 RBIs at the tournament. Wilkey won the Big Ten Freshman of the Week award after going 4-0 in the circle while allowing no runs in 20.2 innings pitched. That stretch included one complete-game shutout against Penn State and another relief outing against the Nittany Lions that featured six hitless frames.

Lewis specifically is having a spectacular debut season, currently leading the Big Ten and ranking 22nd in the nation with 27 total RBIs. She also ranks second in the Big Ten in steals and third in runs scored.

Not to be outdone, senior Sabrina Rabin is hitting her mid-season stride, batting a team-best .474 (9-for-19) with five steals in Houston. Classmate Brooke Marquez is wielding a hot bat, hitting .462 (6-for-13) at the tournament last week. Sophomore Morgan Newport chucked a complete-game shutout in Houston, holding Iowa State scoreless to allow NU to walk-off in the bottom of the seventh for a 1-0 victory.

NU opens both the Big Ten and home slates March 23-25 when Minnesota comes to Sharon J. Drysdale Field for a three-game set. Friday's game is set to begin at 3 p.m., Saturday's first pitch is 1 p.m. and Sunday is a noon start. Sunday's game will be televised live on BTN.
