NU Set for Home Opener Against New Orleans

EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern men's basketball will play its home opener against New Orleans at 7 p.m. on Thursday night at the new Welsh-Ryan Arena. All fans will receive a special rally towel to commemorate the opener of the new facility.

The Wildcats played their first-ever competition — an exhibition — against McKendree on Friday night, 83-44. Senior Vic Law scored a game-high 14 points, while adding five rebounds and two assists to pace the Wildcats. First-year Pete Nance and sophomore Anthony Gaines also scored in double-digits for Northwestern with 12 and 10 points, respectively.
NU has won all five of their home openers under Sullivan-Ubben Head Men's Basketball Coach Chris Collins, and the last 10 home openers overall. The Wildcats have played New Orleans three times overall and twice since 2015.
Redshirt senior forward Vic Law is eight points away from 1,000 in his NU career. He would become the 36th Wildcat in program history to reach the 1,000-point mark.
Wildcat fans have an opportunity to see the renovated Welsh-Ryan Arena on Thursday night, which received countless improvements, including chair-back seats, concession points-of-sale, restrooms, elevated A/V capabilities, and much more.
